Remember walking to school when you were a kid, uphill both ways, in the snow, with 75 lbs of books in your backpack? Yeah, me too. Nowadays, we have cars with TVs, phones that can video call people, jetpacks, and magical devices that endlessly entertain and educate us. Oh yeah, and also the Internet. How did we live without the Internet? No one can remember.
So, when you’re moving to a new city or neighbourhood, it only makes sense that you would go online to figure out what are the best schools for your cherished offspring. Enter the deep-thinkers of the Fraser Institute. A “Canadian public policy think tank” (I always imagine a big aquarium full of people in suits with their hands rubbing their chins.), the Fraser Institute does a solid job of ranking and reporting on the the quality of schools in Ontario.
You can compare all the elementary and secondary schools in Ontario at once, or narrow down the criteria by city, postal code and even school board. Options to choose criteria such as the percentage of ESL or special needs students, provide you with very specific information to help you choose the best school. Searching by specific school name is also permitted, and you can directly compare up to six schools at once.
If you’re not in Ontario, don’t worry. We got you, too, Alberta, BC, and Quebec. Now, go do your homework!
