I love the Internet, I love innovative ideas, and I love ambitious people that put these ideas in motion. Here’s one that has me hot and bothered lately: Spacefy.it. Not just a clever URL, Spacefy is a Toronto-made service that allows people to list and rent spaces for creative purposes. Any space you own can be used for anything ranging from TV and movie filming to a photo shoot for products to a yoga class overlooking the city.
Toronto is a movie city, and Spacefy has already seen its spaces (some even in Vancouver) used for shoots for Hemlock Grove, Elysium, The Flash, Suits, and Hannibal. The service is further expanding to Vancouver, New York, San Francisco and LA later this year through early 2016. Imagine having your home/office/shop/warehouse featured in a movie or TV show. Massive bragging rights.
The truly unique part about Spacefy is the incredible breadth and variety of spaces that are available. Anything from mansions to offices to galleries to tequila bars to alleys to condos are available and can be listed by you. ANY space can be listed and used.
I’m thrilled to come on board and act as a Spaceman for Spacefy. There’s also a super cool party during TIFF that you should attend, starting at 5 pm on Wednesday, September 16th. I’ll be there. Come hang out with me!
In the meantime, check out some of my favourite spots on Spacefy that happen to belong to some good friends:
